I had a first round interview with the recruiter at their parent company Precis. This interview went very well and she got a good sense of my background. I was told that they were going to pass my information along to the specific team at Bannerboy for feedback and next steps.
I got an email a day later saying flatly that they would not be proceeding. I was kind of surprised given how well the first round went, and when I asked for feedback I was told they didn’t give any, just that they did not want to proceed. I thanked them for their time and moved on.
Two weeks later, I saw the job was reposted so I followed back up with the initial recruiter and stated my continued interest. This time they did want to proceed, and asked me to prepare a 1-hour presentation for an in person interview (NOTE: companies should NOT make people do this, if you can’t figure out someone’s a good fit from the interviews alone you’re not doing your job.) I put together a presentation and was set to meet them in person…and then they cancelled the morning of and asked to reschedule. This was fine with me and we rescheduled for a week later.
Come the next week, another cancellation. When asked to reschedule I asked if we could be flexible and do it virtually because at that point I was already quite far in the interview process elsewhere and just wanted to meet them as soon as possible.
So they set a virtual call for me to give the presentation. I show up to the virtual meeting room…and they never showed up. I waited for 25 minutes. No prior notice, just a no show. 1 hour later I get an email saying they couldn’t do it because if an unspecified “emergency”. That was the final straw, I accepted an offer elsewhere.
PLEASE keep this in mind, candidates time is just as valuable as the employers and we deserve respect as well. This was a very negative experience overall.
