Initial communication came from the in-house recruiter to set up the phone interview. The phone interview with the recruiter consisted of general questions about your resume and experience, and gave more specific information about the role and how it worked within the company. This is about 30 minutes.
The recruiter then followed up within two weeks to set up the on-site interview with the manager and another technical writer along with the recruiter. The manager and technical writer asked more specific questions of your resume and experience, along with some scenario-type questions. Afterwards, the recruiter gave a tour of the facility and an overview of the benefits offered by the company. This took about 2 hours, if I recall correctly.
Afterwards, the recruiter contacted myself to set up the final interview with a third party industrial psychologist that consisted of a self-assessment, a few reasoning assessments, and an interview with mostly scenario-type questions. This third interview takes 4 hours or half a day usually, but it's set at your own pace.
As you can see, the recruiter is very involved in the process of hiring, but I have found it to be extremely helpful.
