      Entrevista

      Althoug I thought the process was laborious, at the same it was very smooth. I had a first interview with HR where I was asked about my experience and goals. Then I had a technical interview where I was given a simple code base and asked to fix some bugs, create some features an talk about the chosen approaches and how it could be improved. When I was approved, they started looking for projects where I could be allocated. Two clients were interested, and each one has different approaches. The first one consisted in one technical interview, one technical challenge and a final cultural fit interview. The second one consisted in only one interview, where I was asked to implement a new feature, in three different levels of difficulty. The process took about 2 months.

      Questions about PHP, OOP, SQL. Implement a simple program to handle pet shop scheduling. Implement an interface to show a PDF to the user, and count how many time did the user have each PDF single page opened and show a list with data. Questions about general work style, availability to be on calls.

      Entrevista

      Simple interview first with HR and then a technical interview. The technical part lasted about an hour: the first half involved questions about my CV, and during the second half, I shared my screen and worked on an API task (such as optimizing a specific query). I felt pretty comfortable throughout the whole process.

      Highly suspect that this company discriminates based on age. The VERY first question I received from the recruiter during the first round of interviews was about my age. How age affects someone's ability to do their job, even if they have prior experience is anyone's guess. The interview itself was suspiciously brief, lasting no more than 10 minutes, and the recruiter did not tell me anything about the role or more details about the next steps. It was not surprising to receive an automated email a few days after this screening interview informing me that they had decided to move forward with other candidates. Beware.
