The first part was a phone interview with the guy that would end up training me. He laid out what the job was about and made sure I was looking for what they were offering.
Then I took an online quiz which was basically a simple personality test. I think it was to determine if I'm the type that would enjoy being a truck driver and being detail oriented with paperwork, etc.
Then I had to bring my driving record from DMV to an interview with the Vice President of the company and the guy that would be training me for the HAZMAT stuff (I had several trainers).
Then the trainer I mentioned went out with for a short ride to make sure I knew how to drive a truck. I was a recent driving school graduate.
Then a DOT physical.
Then training started. 2 weeks in a classroom atmosphere to cover company policies and to learn some stuff, then checklists to make sure trainers have covered certain things, then 2 weeks or more of driving with a trainer and signing checklists. Then they asked me when I felt ready and gradually gave me loads over time that built up my skills and familiarity with the different shippers and consignees.
