Me postulé en línea. El proceso tomó 1 día. Acudí a una entrevista en Arrowsight (Mount Kisco, NY) en dic 2014

      Entrevista

Initial interview took place over the phone for approximately 1 hour. Physical interview was 6 hours long. There were 45 minute segments within the 6 hour time frame for one-on-one's with different team members. There was also a 45 minute test. Most of the interview questions were academic in nature. The final interview segment was with the CTO, who made it clear that Arrowsight is not a good company to work for. He hinted at extreme workloads, and let his arrogant nature surface several times throughout the interview. The segment concluded with me setting a desired salary, upon which the CTO promptly countered with an emotionally charged response, to the tune of "We don't need people like you". I take that he was offended by my initial offer of $90k for a developer with mid-level experience. Either way, it was very unprofessional in nature. My take on the company is that the employees seem to be intelligent and nice. However, management seems to suffer from the rough startup mentality, which can lead to an uncomfortable workplace. In the end, I wasted a whole day on a company that may only be worth the time for a junior level developer with no other options.

      Entrevista

Initially applied online and received a call within a few days. First round interview was over the phone with the hiring manager and mainly consisted of talking about past projects and technologies used. The call lasted around an hour. Received a callback a few days later inviting me onsite for a series of interviews. I was told to expect the interview to last from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. The onsite interview consisted of a coding exam followed up by 1 on 1 interviews with the hiring manager, members of the team, and the CTO. The team member interviews were laid back and they mainly talked about the projects they were working on and how the application was architected. By the time I got to the CTO interview it was already 4:00 PM well over the 2:00 PM end time they had told me. He immediately started firing away a variety of C++ questions even though the position was for C#/.NET. In talking with him I got the impression he was very much hands on in the day to day coding/architecting even though there was a technical manager and several senior level developers. Like the last reviewer he also asked me my salary expectations and seemed very taken aback at the number I gave him. We wrapped things up a little after 5:00 and they told me they would be in touch a few days later. A week or so later I got an email from the CTO saying they were not going to extend and offer at that time. All in all I genuinely felt their 8 hour+ onsite interview process was a bit extreme for a small company utilizing fairly dated technologies.
