Me postulé a través de un reclutador. El proceso tomó 2 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en Arizona State University

      Entrevista

A panel interview included the hiring manager who was a VP and several coordinators/managers in the department. This was awkward as I was being asked questions about tasks as I guess would be appropriate from the coordinator/manager level, however the job was a higher level, or so I thought.... I was confused about whether I would be doing the same tasks as their role or whether the role was actually a senior director role. I was more prepared to answer about strategy, ideas and how I drove new business in past roles. I could tell the panel was sending text or Slack messages to each other in between the questions and answers. That made me even more uncomfortable. I left the interview with kind of a negative feeling. I was not sure whether this was an inflated title and they really needed someone to do admin and execution, or whether they wanted a senior director level candidate. I did not feel treated like a senior level candidate with two decades of experience. I also thought it did not work to include all levels in the one interview, or the VP should have led the conversation and steered it toward the level of the role and not allowed the team to focus on lower level questions. If I would have moved forward, I would then apparently be meeting many more team members in the department. If all hiring decisions need buy-in from coordinators and managers, this is concerning as it suggests to me that the culture is fragile or the senior leaders are uncertain of their hiring abilities. Possibly it would be better to do a meet and greet with the entire team right before the final offer rather than allowing less experienced employees without much hiring experience to believe they can choose their managers. This experience led me to question the level of leadership present in the department too. Then as the interview concluded I was informed that the next step would be sending examples of data bases and reports apparently as proof of my abilities. Also the job was a hybrid but I was told at the beginning that employees are really encouraged to show up every day and that's what most people in the department do. The salary was much much lower than market average for a Senior Marketing Director too, leading me to overall think that this was more of a Marketing Manager role.
