Me postulé en persona. El proceso tomó 1 semana. Acudí a una entrevista en Arclight International (Dallas, TX) en feb 2011

      Entrevista

I had three interviews. The first one I was taken to dinner at a fancy restaurant and it was very different from a normal interview. The owner was very casual and friendly with the conversation that seemed be designed to figure out how I behaved in that setting and to learn about my personal history and life experiences. We talked just a little bit about the actual job but a lot about design in general, my experiences with projects and travels. The second interview was offered at the conclusion of the meal and was set for the next day at the office. I was asked to bring examples of my work, drawings and ability to sketch. After a tour, my work was gone over in a very detailed manner, he clearly loves perfection and an aesthetic style to one's work. He then showed examples of the company's work and explained what they were looking for and concepts of how he wanted things done in the future. After two days I was invited back for a third interview/meeting where he formally made me an offer to work for them. I was surprised by the amount in a good way. He said he didn't want employees to be worried about money and how they were going to make ends meet and he said there is a catch to that. He wanted exceptional work and my complete attention to the job and projects in exchange for it.

      Preguntas de entrevista [1]

      Pregunta 1

They asked about drugs and drinking and they said they have a zero tolerance policy for it and he clearly hated pot smokers in particular and wanted nothing to do with them. Because of the high end clients they asked a lot of questions about luxury furnishings, products, travel, etc. They also asked obscure questions about art and both American and world history. They gave a design challenge right then and there and asked me to solve it in the manner I thought best and proceeded to watch my process of working through the design process. It was a very unexpected interview and it was intimidating as well as broad in it's scope. About 70% of it was not about CAD or work itself but about me and how I thought about and what I knew about a wide range of topics that were both industry related and heavily related all aspects of luxury culture. If you are not well read and well traveled on top of being extremely proficient and talented in the position you were applying for, I doubt you would make the cut with this guy.
