4 hour take home technical assessment. One data set for browsing behavior and one for viewing behavior. They wanted you to come up with 2-3 insights. The catch was they won’t give you a data dictionary. I have a decade of experience as a data scientist and knowing your data and what it represents is one of the most important aspects of being good data scientist. So I had no experience analyzing streaming platform data so I had to make a lot of assumptions. It definitely showed in the interview. There were 4 different times where the interviewers said, “well you would actually want to calculate it this way because…” and the reason they gave showed how the assumption I made was wrong, but could have totally be avoided if I had been given a data dictionary. Essentially the assumptions that I made about the data were my downfall in this interview. However, this would have been a much different experience had they included a data dictionary, which they said they wouldn’t do. Basically felt like they were setting me up to fail or find the person who could make the best guesses on what something meant.
