One of the worst interview experiences I have ever had, as evident by other interview reviews as well!
First round was with the engineering manager which went pretty well. Since they had reached out to me a few times I assume they were quite interested. Second round was live coding interview which was one of the least professional or useful coding interviews I have ever had in my career of decade+. The interviewer was a software engineer, had two questions to be completed in one hour. All fair! However they insisted that the code should fully compile and run, while clearly my answer was correct (hashmap) and I articulated every bit of the logic of the code. Mind you, the error was an obscure one, related to the internals of how Java iterates and compares objects in hashmaps. By the end of the hour we got through only the first question, and even for that to happen I had to push the interviewer to move on from random error debugging to actual knowledge of coding practices, otherwise we would not even have gotten past the first part of the first question.

The interview process followed a standard format: an initial recruiter phone screen followed by a technical interview with an engineer. The interview itself was straightforward, and I felt that my performance was strong. However, I received a rejection email a few days later.
One aspect that stood out was that the interviewer did not seem particularly engaged, and the conversation felt more like a one sided assessment than an interactive discussion. As a result, the overall experience felt less collaborative than I had expected.

The recruiter setup a zoom call with the hiring manager, who was actually not with Amplitude itself, but "CommandAI", formerly "CommandBar", which was acquired by Amplitude. He was a no show for nearly 10 minutes so I emailed the hiring manager, at which point the manager emailed me saying he was detained and would be 10 minutes late. Eventually, 17 minutes in, just as I was closing the tab, he finally showed up. He did not seem like someone I'd want to work for.

What have you been doing since your last role. Where do you see your career going?
Manager interview, recruiter interview, 90 min hackerrank working on a JS problem, 30 minute follow up to build on my solution, onsite where I built a basic app with two other engineers.
