      The entire process felt very impersonal as no recruiter contacted me with a real message until I withdrew my application as a result of my follow-up emails being ignored. I only received automated email invitations to complete a self-paced video interview. However, the instructions said it should take no longer than 15 min. There were 5 questions that each required around 3 min. of responses, and multiple attempts were allowed. Each question also allowed preparation as well as online note-taking that I could use as a transcript for each recorded response. So while the minimum time to complete the process was around 15 min., it certainly was not accurate to state that it “should take no longer than 15 minutes.” For me, it took nearly 30 minutes to complete. However, what bothered me more was that I would receive daily automated reminders to complete the video interview without giving me a deadline. This gave the false impression that the completion of the video interview was extremely urgent. After submitting my video responses only after two days of being asked, I waited until the following week to follow up and used the email address of a recruiter who appeared in the automated reminder messages I was receiving. However, the recruiter I reached out to never replied, even after multiple follow-up attempts. It was obvious there was no interest on their end to communicate with me or acknowledge my video interview submission. As this was not respectful of me or my efforts in the process, I decided to withdraw my application. Ironically, the recruiter responded within hours of my request to withdraw my application but could not provide a good reason for why she did not acknowledge my previous emails in a timely manner. Her poor excuse was that the hiring manager was out sick, which did not really explain why the recruiter did not reply to my previous emails. This only confirmed that I was being ignored until I withdrew my application. If anyone from Ally is reading this, I hope you recognize the need to retrain your recruiting team on proper communication protocols with candidates.
