I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Allianz ( Beirut,Lebanon) in June 2018. A company where I was discriminated because of my HIJAB (Middle East office , Beirut , Lebanon) I received a call from the HR where she invited me to the first interview stage. She told me to book myself for approximately three hours, where I will have first the typical Hr interview, and then I will speak with six people from various departments. On the interview day, I first had the Hr interview where I was asked various situational and behavioral questions. At the end of the interview, the interviewer gave me really positive feedback regarding my performance and my attitude. So at this point, I was expecting her to tell me, now it’s time for the other interviews, but unfortunately it didn’t go as expected. She concluded her statement with “If you are interested in any other position at Allianz, don’t hesitate to contact and I will refer you directly , and thank you for your attendance today , enough for today you can leave and you can follow up with me“ I was really surprised to hear that!! Like what just happened!! I was asked to leave after the HR interview even though she really liked me?! Why?! What did I do wrong? I was so shocked that I couldn’t even ask her why are rejecting me from the beginning. I called her twice for 2 consecutive weeks after the interview to follow up , and she maintained with same statement :”oh Dear , we are still interviewing people for the position , I will contact you back , no worries” I started to doubt myself , is it because I am hijabi woman ?! But being veiled doesn’t mean you lack intellectual thinking!! Finally, after a month, I heard the news that the company hired another person at this position more specially (a non hijabi woman that meets their requirements profile) It seems that she didn’t expect me to look this way, so she decided to reject me from the beginning instead of giving me false hopes and then rejecting me! I didn’t even got the chance to prove myself to the manager people, I was directly cut out from the potential candidates!!
