I aced the Codility assessment with a perfect score of 100/100. Following that, I was directed to schedule an interview with a recruiter through Calendly. What followed was a rather absurd conversation. I was rejected because I hadn’t "implemented" protocols like FTP. Despite explaining my extensive experience working with FTP and numerous other protocols, it seems their requirement was for someone who has specifically "implemented" these protocols, whatever that means. To add to the confusion, they insisted on experience with protocols that are exclusive to their clients—essentially, proprietary protocols that only someone within the company would even know about. The whole experience was nothing short of laughable.
A word of advice: Respect your candidates. Be transparent and avoid using flimsy excuses like "implementing FTP." It’s insulting and unnecessary.
