      Entrevista para Global Immigration Manager

Me postulé a través de un reclutador. El proceso tomó 6 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en Affirm (Atlanta, GA) en oct 2022

      Entrevista

I recently went through an extensive interview process for a role at Affirm within the HR team. I was told after 4 rounds of interviews (with 8 people) that I wasn’t chosen for the role. My disappointment in the decision stems more from the way that I’ve been treated as a candidate throughout this process. Unfortunately, the recruiter’s inability to clearly communicate and his lack of attention to detail, have left me confused and moreover, concerned about the reality of Affirm’s “People First” mission. The recruiter first reached out to me via LinkedIn (I didn’t seek out this potential role), but he didn’t show up on time for our first call. I had to message him on LinkedIn to understand why he missed our call, to which he explained he must have put in the wrong time in his calendar. Secondly, the recruiter forgot to share my phone number with my first two interviewers. This caused me to miss 10 full minutes (of only 30 total) of my first interview. I even emailed him when I didn’t receive my phone call and never received a response back from him. Thankfully, the interviewer emailed me directly, and we were able to connect. The recruiter’s mistake cost me valuable time that day and really threw my emotions and overall interview for a loop. Thirdly, on the day of my panel interview, the recruiter confirmed via email just before my first one was scheduled to begin that he would be unable to meet and debrief with me at the end of the day. He promised to call me and provide the debrief / feedback shortly afterwards. Unfortunately, I never heard back from him on this, and after already chasing him previously for help with the phone number situation with my first interviewer and being “ghosted”, I didn’t feel comfortable pushing him for a response at this point. I fear that this debrief could have provided me with valuable feedback that I would have used to prepare more fully for my final interview. Finally, I was told that I was one of 3 final candidates for this role and that I’d be provided with an update after my final interview. I did receive an update from the interview after my 4th round interview but it was over a full week after my final interview and quite frankly was a very standard / impersonal email. I spent countless hours prepping for these 4 rounds of interviews. I even created a mock Global Immigration Plan for the company , with timelines and specific goals, while also integrating Affirm’s core values into each component. I met with a total of 8 different people and sent personal thank you emails to each person afterwards. All that to say, I am shocked that after all of that work neither the recruiter nor any of the hiring team could do me the courtesy of a phone call to explain the company’s decision and provide some much needed feedback on why I wasn’t chosen for the role. The recruiter’s final email and overall treatment of me as a candidate (someone he sought out initially) has become a major red flag to me for the company overall, especially in connection to the “People First” culture I so desperately admired. I emailed the recruiter as well as the hiring team (with these additional details about the recruiter) asking for a phone call to provide me with specific feedback and have not heard back, which is actually shocking. Finally, I can see that the recruiter has reposted the Global Immigration Manager job on LinkedIn. This was done a full day before I was told I wasn’t chosen for the role (I received an alert for this since I’m now following Affirm on the site). I was confused and disheartened to see the recruiter post this a full day before it was confirmed to me that I wasn’t chosen for the role. This reposting of the job online left me questioning why I was subjected to 4 full rounds of interviews when neither me nor the other two candidates were chosen for the role. Unfortunately, I now feel like the decision to not hire me was made a long time ago, and I was simply strung along for the rest of this process, wasting my valuable professional and personal time (I took PTO for several of the interviews). Ultimately know that the interviewing process is extreme at Affirm and that if they don’t pick you, they will discard without second thoughts, even if you ask for well-deserved feedback. Sadly I won’t be recommending this company to anyone I know looking in the job market. They say they are a people first company, but that obviously doesn’t hold true if this is the way they treat their candidates.
