I got 2 phone interviews and was asked if I can fly over to the site in Richmond Virginia area. I had disclosed that I was a Canadian Citizen multiple times via phone and even in the Coverletter. I flew over using my own money paid for the flight and covered the PCR test myself. I went there and did 2 interviews and it seemed to have went well. I got a positive sounding email from them telling me that they think I am a "good fit" and told me they just needed to finalize decision in a week. A week comes I get a call and told me the HR do not want to go over the VISA process. I was unemployed and used up most of my few savings to fly from Canada during this pandemic when things could have been avoided if they had just confirmed whether or not they allow/consider non US residents to apply to begin with after I disclosed it multiple times. I am really frustrated and probably the worst interview experience I have ever had so far.
