I only made it through the first round of the interview process (phone screening). The Addepar recruiter was friendly. She told me I would hear back from her by a certain date (which I did). I appreciated her being easy to talk to and reliable, even though I didn't get the position.

I applied online. I interviewed remotely.
Interview
1) First interview was with a talent acquisition person and we had a nice chat including about mental health and the Edinburgh fringe.
2) The second interview was with the hiring manager. Here's where there were many issues.
First- The role I was interviewing for for a Sr. Product Manager. However, I was asked nothing about that. I was being asked business analyst and data analyst questions. On enquiring , I was told that the product management team operates in the US. In Edinburgh, they only deal with their client's custodian banks to map their data into Addepar's products . So , I believe the product manager title is a misnomer or possibly a vanity title for what is essentially a data BA role.
Second- I was horrified to learn that the hiring manager was looking at someone else's CV, not mine (to be fair to him, he admitted it). I would question the professionalism here.
Third- I was asked the question- what is a bond? which is fine. But when you consider the fact that you are asking this question to someone who has 18 years experience in asset and wealth management, it sounds very strange. As an analogy , imagine you are asking an epidemiologist - what is a virus?
Due to these, I had to stop the interview process here as it was clear that we were wasting each other's time. It was the first time I had ever done this as it was clear to me that the role advertised was not consistent with what I am being interviewed for. Addepar should take into account that these interview processes are long and takes a lot of prep and effort from candidates. The least they should do is to get the role title, description and hiring manager's expectations consistent so that they don't waste the candidate's time.
