Something is very wrong with the company. Beware!
Was schedule to have a "casual chat" online. However 15 mins before the meet, I recieved a text requesting to reschedule. and the call also started 15mins late. I continued to be professional, but the conversation felt unnecessarily confrontational, interviewer suggested to keep the meeting short because it is almost end of day. Failing to realise its their own administrative error that caused this inconvenience.
Interviewer is also unprepared for the interview. There was also a clear mismatch between the job description and the screening discussion. When asked why I am keen on the role, I shared that my interest came from recent work in agentic systems and GenAI, but I was told the role had “nothing to do with AI” and to very rudely told go re-read the JD. This was confusing because the JD clearly specified work would be related to GenAI/agentic systems.
Additionally, the interviewer's expectations around the tech stack were extremely misaligned. Interviewer doesn't understand that Kotlin is fully interoperatable with Java until i mention SpringBoot, made assumptions that I'm only a backend developer because I used NodeJs. Towards the end, rather than clarifying questions, even implied I didn’t write code and asked me when did I learn to code.
The interviewer is not qualified to handle techincal recruitments.
Overall the process was extremely unprofessional and left a bad taste in my mouth.
If there was no interest to hire why even reach out in the first place?
Worst interview experience I’ve had. Disorganized and unprofessional!
