Me postulé a través de una agencia de empleos. El proceso tomó 3 meses. Acudí a una entrevista en Accenture (Londres, Inglaterra) en nov 2014

      Entrevista

The interview process was very structured as expected. I was booked in for half a day assessment session in which I had to go through 3 rounds of interview. I reached the Accenture office in Fenchurch street around 8.30 as my interview was scheduled to start at 09.00 A.M. I was welcomed at reception but that welcome wasn't like the one I had in the Ernst & Young where receptionsit offered me a tea or coffee here in Accenture I was asked to take a seat and wait. Anyway, my interviewer turned up at reception at 09.00 am and introduced herself as senior manager working in the IT Strategy practice. She asked me to follow her to the 2nd floor where a meeting room was booked for my half day asessment. First round - Potentia Interview - 1 Hour This interview was not related to the job or work you are going to do in the role you have applied for however the purpose of this interview is to test your strategic thinking and how you will respond to a situation which is not work related but you need to discuss with client. Anyway, I found this experience quite interesting and really enjoyed the hour long discussion with senior manager who first gave me a half pager situation on pollution and it's affect on people life in different parts of the world and topic also included issues on tobaco and taxes. I was given 10 minutes to go through the topic and prepare my thoughts on that topic. After 10 minutes, interviewer started asking me questions from a list and started writing my answers. The questions were mainly focused to check my understanding of the problem and creative thinking as she asked top 3 solutions to address this problem in short term and long term. How would I use technology to address this problem etc. Overall I enjoyed the experience and interviewer was very friendly. Second Round - HR Interview - 45 minutes After finishing the first round I was given a 5 minutes break and HR manager joined me in the same meeting room. This round was not different than any other HR interviews I had in the past where an HR manager is asing about your salary, Why Accenture and other competency based questions around leadership, conflict and team management. This round went very well and HR asked me about my expectations etc. which I explained her. Third Round - Case Study - 1 Hour I was given a 10 minutes tea break before starting the case study interview which was taken by another senior manager from IT Strategy practice. The case study was about an airlines company who had two choices either to merge with orther org. or sell part of the business due to competion. I was asked to summarise the problem statement and propose how Accenture team will be able to help the CEO. I suggested few options in this situations which are primarly around two things which can only be done in this kind of scenarios a) cost reduction b) revenue increase. The interviewer agreed with my proposals. After finishing the case studies interviewer asked me if I have any questions and I asked him few questions around practice, growth and type of engagements etc. The interviewer was very nice and friendly and answered all the questions. We also had general chat which helped me building repeuation with interviewer. Overall it was a fantastic experience and I got a very good feedback as well and was cleared for the next level. Interview with MD I wasn't told about this earlier as I thought assessment session was the only thing I need to go through. Anyway I was informed that MD want to meet me for the final discussions. I went to meet an MD a week after and meeting got reschedule 30 minutes before as his earlier meeting got extended. Anyway, finally I met the MD at 7.00 pm in the Pub as visitors can't enter the building after 6.00 pm. It was difficult to talk in the noise but it went well. Next day I received a call from consultant who told me that MD want me to meet another MD who heads the architecture practice as I also have architecture background. Next week, second meeting was scheduled with another MD who heads the architecture. This time the meeting took place on the schedule date & time. My second meeting with MD was quite intense as he asked me what I think he is looking for in a senior manager. It was a question which i wans't prepared for so I took a minute to answer that question and said what I think are the core qualities required in Sr. Manager. He agreed with all and added one more from his end. Then he asked me draw an architecture for a pharam company which I did on the white board. So overall it was an intense discussion which went very well. Finally, I had the call from a consultant who said MD was very impressed with me and Accenture offered me a Senior Manager role in IT Strategy. I hope this would be helpful to anyone preparing for senior manager role interview in Accenture.

Very rigorous and well organized. Each interviewer sit expert in an area (i.e. Behavioral questions) and each acts as a gate before the next. Very professional and well oiled process. Everything is scored following a model.

I had two 30 minute meetings with the HR Recruiter and then one Behavioural interview. I didn't make it past the behavioural interview. I was told to only use the last 2 years work as examples for answering the questions. This was absurd and as I had better examples during the past 18 years work experience. If you are reading this, then rest assured that getting a senior role at Accenture is set for failure as the behavioural questions include factual questions, "do you have experience of increasing sales opportunities with clients, which should be asked with the HR interview.

      Entrevista

After getting an employee referral, I applied online and then was contacted by a recruiter. The recruiter stated that there would be five interviews, and then a final interview with the global head of the practice. The first interview was with HR and lasted about an hour- a standard review of your resume, motivations for coming to the practice, past experiences- all very standard for this level of recruiting and very promising. Two months go by and the second interview (Situational) comes, this time it goes very well and the interview is almost 2+ hours. Then nothing-for two-and-a-half months. First recruiter calls and schedules the next two interviews. In the interview with potential colleague (which took two more weeks to schedule) a few points come to light- a) he admits he hasn't read my resume and doesn't know why he is interviewing me b) he has only been with the firm a short time and is on 'garden leave' for another several months, so not only is he not allowed to do anything in the practice, he doesn't even care who they do hire to do the work on his own team...somehow he likes me and passes me on to the next round. Another month goes by. The next interview is with the leader of the practice. After a few reschedules, and one outright blowoff, we have the interview-where he asks me the exact same technical question that the previous interviewer had, which I answered the exact same way (correctly) and I asked if I could ask a few questions? Had they ever done a full implementation, and if so, what were the difficulties that they had run into? Long pause....they had NEVER done a full implementation, they had never even done a project were they were direct billing the client- their services were an add-on to other areas of the firm and they had yet to do a project that covered their costs. The process had drug on for six months. There were several last minute cancellations and two outright blow-offs by the interviewers. I wasn't interested in being treated like this. I thanked him for his time, followed by emails etc...the recruiter calls a week later-they are not going to hire at this level for the post, they have dropped it down two levels. I don't actually say much, as she was pleasant and there was no need to be anything but professional (she kept saying "I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, I really thought you were perfect for Accenture" I thanked her kindly and went on my way... A week later, the post is up again- they did not drop it down, they kept it the same. I can't get back the time involved in this whole lengthy process, but at some point, when my new firm is looking for consultants for a project, I will have plenty to weigh in on the subject of whom gets hired.
