In the past, I have been involved in multiple hiring interviews, but this was definitely one of its kind. The interviewer said that he could not manage to look at my CV before the interview. The interviewer had no background or context about the purpose of the interview. He also said "I have no idea why I am assigned this interview". The interviewer said he did not know about my past interview (as it was a 2nd interview). In addition, he had no information on any of my past communication with Alten. The HR promised that " The interviewer will be the one explaining to you what we do to today in data science in Alten UK ". However, the interviewer was unaware of any data science projects, and had no information on the job title or description. The interviewer also mentioned that Alten would rather look for someone in the local market than sponsoring a visa, and it will be difficult to sponsor visa in the current situation. This is contradictory to what I discussed with the HR over the phone where she clearly mentioned that my nationality will not be an issue for the project (since I am from a friendly country) and they will be able to sponsor if necessary. I would have appreciated if Alten had asked me to move the interview time/date rather than having an interview just for the sake of formality, with someone who is uninformed. This is the third bad experience with Alten: (1) I had a face to face interview in Dec 2019 for which I never received a feedback. (2) A recruiter contacted me on LinkedIn in Feb 2020 for another position and disappeared. (3) This time (May 2020) they arranged an interview with someone who cannot provide any value to the conversation. It made me feel that it was an absolute waste of my time. Unfortunately, my experiences with Alten has made me believe that it is not the kind of company where I belong.
