The Good
Initial interview process was thorough and well-structured
Interviewers were knowledgeable and the technical discussions were engaging
Role seemed like a good fit for my background in infrastructure and data center technologies
Company appears to be growing and has strong partnerships with major vendors (Dell, Palo Alto, etc.)
The Not So Good
Poor Communication During Final Stages
The biggest issue was the complete breakdown in communication after completing multiple interview rounds. Here's the timeline:
June 20: Initial interview
July 10: Second round interview
July 13: Sent thank you note, recruiter went OOO
July 18: Brief update that "team was OOO, feedback very positive"
July 25: I followed up asking for status
August 1: Still "waiting for update from team"
August 19: Finally notified they went with another candidate
36+ days of radio silence after what seemed like positive interviews is unprofessional, especially when I was proactively following up. For a company doing $1B+ in revenue, this level of candidate experience is disappointing.
Process Issues
Extended delays between interview rounds without clear communication
Recruiter seemed to have limited visibility into hiring team decisions
No clear timeline or next steps communicated
Final rejection came with no feedback or explanation
Advice to Management
Establish clear communication protocols for candidate updates
Set realistic expectations for hiring timeline upfront
Provide feedback to candidates who make it through multiple rounds
Respect candidates' time with prompt communication
Would I Interview Again?
Probably not, based solely on the poor candidate experience during the final stages. The role and company seemed promising, but the hiring process suggests potential organizational communication issues.
