I had an initial screen with a recruiter, followed up with a 1-on-1 with the hiring manager. The part of the process where I would say it fell apart was simply never hearing back either way, despite repeated follow-ups with the recruiter/my point of contact. I would say it's typical to never hear back and that's wherein the answer lies but I expected to hear something based on the positive conversation/initial interview I had with the hiring manager. The recruiter was also pretty responsive up until I had my video interview with the hiring manager and then simply never heard back either way. I ultimately did hear back from the recruiter but it was clear this was due to my attempts at following up with person I'd interviewed with.
