Tier 4 Escalation Video Engineer

Job Title: Principal Video Systems Engineer (Tier 4 / Escalation)
Role:
Final escalation point for complex video service issues across hotel properties.
- Own end-to-end troubleshooting of satellite, RF, and IPTV systems.
- Diagnose and resolve failures spanning signal acquisition, headend, network transport, and in-room delivery.
- Direct on-site technicians (“smart hands”) to execute physical repairs.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and resolve Tier 3 video incidents (satellite, cable/RF, IPTV)
- Trace and isolate faults across full signal chain: dish → headend → network → TV
- Diagnose RF issues (signal loss, interference, alignment, amplification)
- Debug IPTV/network issues (multicast, VLANs, QoS, packet loss, jitter)
- Lead real-time incident response for property-wide outages
- Direct on-site staff to perform cabling, hardware replacement, and dish adjustments
- Validate fixes via signal measurement and system verification
- Work across vendors to resolve multi-system issues
- Document root cause and permanent fixes
- Mentor Tier 1/2 engineers and improve escalation processes
Required Qualifications:
- 7–10+ years hands-on experience with video distribution systems
- DIRECTV experience
- Deep expertise in:
- Satellite systems (LNBs, dish alignment, multi-switches)
- RF/cable distribution (QAM, modulators, amplifiers)
- IPTV platforms and video delivery over IP
- Strong networking knowledge:
- Multicast (IGMP/PIM), VLANs, QoS
- Layer 2/3 troubleshooting
- Proven Tier 3 experience resolving complex, multi-layer failures
- Experience guiding non-tech on-site staff through physical repairs
- Ability to diagnose issues across RF, IP, and hardware without runbooks
- Hands-on experience with:
- Coax and Ethernet troubleshooting
- Headend equipment and signal measurement tools
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in hospitality or multi-property environments
- Familiarity with major IPTV middleware and hotel TV platforms
- CCNP or equivalent networking experience
- SCTE or broadcast-related certifications

Pay: $30,500.00 - $34,000.00 per month
