Grower / Trainee Grower – Join Our Passionate Horticulture Team!

Work Location: Binsted Nursery (West Sussex)
Job Type: This position is permanent, and full time, working a minimum of 39 hours per week
Salary Range: from £25,857 to £28,007 (plus overtime) paid hourly depending on experience and ability
Responsible to: Technical Manager

Do you have a passion for plant growing and a desire to work with a motivated team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment? We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Grower to assist in looking after allocated crops to produce over 1.5 million young plants each year at our thriving nursery. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and implement innovative caring techniques while maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Passionate but lacking technical training? We are open to supporting the right candidate with training and may consider a Trainee-level start.

What You’ll Do:

As the Grower, you’ll be responsible for:

Growing Mastery: Grow and maintain crops of good quality, ensuring quality, quantity, and time targets are met. You’ll prioritise and monitor plant care (watering, bio-control, spraying, fertiliser) to meet strict production standards.

Team work: Liaise with other staff and teams on site. Instruct and direct a small team when required and ensuring targets are met. Ensure safe working practices are followed.

Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety standards while working closely with your team to maintain a safe, efficient, and productive work environment.

Administrative Tasks: Oversee regular stock checks, maintain production records, and support the smooth flow of communication within the team and across departments.

What We’re Looking For:

✔️ Practical horticultural knowledge and experience beneficial
✔️ Organised with good attention to detail
✔️ Motivated completer finisher
✔️ Good at listening and open to new ideas
✔️Effective communicator
✔️ Able to work alone or as a part of team and follow instruction
✔️ PA1, PA6 and PA9 qualifications (desirable but not required)
✔️ A passion for horticulture, innovation, and continuous improvement
