Dying takes a lifetime, but Penn Treaty offered insurance on just the last few years. The company provided long-term care products, including coverage for nursing home and assisted living facilities as well as home health care. It also offered Medicare supplemental policies. The company's products were underwritten by its Penn Treaty Network America, American Network Insurance, and American Independent Network Insurance Company of New York subsidiaries. Long-term care policies accounted for more than 95% of the company's premiums. While it continues to pay out existing policies, the company is no longer writing new business and is operating under rehabilitation.
