Ventajas
Like many organizations, the AAP has undergone a radical change. Both the culture and physical environment have shifted radically due to the pandemic and we are in a transitional phase. The AAP has adapted in astounding ways, but this also means that things feel unsettled. There is some clash between old and new. Much depends on the leader in your department. All the other recent reviews, divergent as they may be, are accurate. Your experience depends on your department leader. Siloed departments are all the more isolated now that we are hybrid. Some leaders are very cautious and old fashioned, but some are progressive and moving forward. Building is new and modern with great amenities, but quiet with partial staff. Staff interaction is nicer than your average workplace, but not friendly. Real work is being attempted for equity, diversity and inclusion. CEO is great at his job, so let’s hope we can keep him. The overarching mission and spirit of the members will always persevere. In progressive departments, staff will adapt or be replaced. In old fashioned departments, staff will continue to stagnate or leave. Check back on reviews in 2 years when the dust has settled.
Desventajas
It depends on your department and coworkers. Across the board, there is little opportunity for advancement or movement within the organization.
