I have no issues with selection or rejection. I just want you to give the candidates a proper reason of rejection instead of false or absurd excuses.
Doesn't matter behavioral, technical, attitude or any other aspect. Tell them the truth direct on their face.
I got to know from your company employee itself that you were not able to give a hike of even 20% on my CTC which was the main reason of my rejection. Sorry but its highly unprofessional what you had done, you should not schedule the interview in the first place if ECTC was an issue.
