GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE ROLE
The Category Manager Glass Bottles – Cluster North is a strategic regional role within Campari Group's Global Procurement PR organization. The position is part of the Americas (AMES) Glass team, structured around two geographic clusters (North and South) that report to the Americas Category Director – Packaging (Glass).
The role is accountable for developing and executing the glass sourcing strategy across the United States, Canada, and Jamaica – markets that collectively represent a significant portion of total business. It drives commercial and technical excellence, orchestrates regional supplier relationships, leads tendering activities, and partners closely with local Procurement SPOCs embedded in each country to ensure seamless strategy execution on the ground.
The role operates fully within the Global Glass Category Strategy framework and plays a central part in articulating the strategy into execution.
MISSION / OBJECTIVES

Ensure continuous, efficient and cost-effective supply of glass bottles across Cluster North markets.

Develop and implement the regional glass category strategy, aligned with global direction and local business priorities.

Strengthen supplier competitiveness, performance and sustainability across the cluster.

Drive productivity, value engineering, NPD, BCP and SRM programs with measurable financial outcomes.

Enable flawless local execution through structured collaboration with Procurement SPOCs in USA, Canada, and Jamaica.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES
- 1. Category Strategy & Market Intelligence
-
Build and execute the regional Glass Category Strategy for Cluster North, aligned with the Global Glass Strategy and the Americas cluster framework.

Conduct internal and external analysis (SWOT, Porter's Five Forces, cost modeling, supply/demand balance, M&A monitoring) to identify risks and opportunities.
-
Monitor glass cost drivers – energy, soda ash, raw materials, cullet, transportation – and develop mitigation actions in collaboration with global category leads.
-
Identify multi-sourcing and alternative supplier opportunities; leverage the glass market's balanced supply/demand conditions to develop competitive scenarios.

Maintain category intelligence gathering and contribute to the Global Glass Database for Cluster North SKUs (technical specs, commercial data, sustainability, logistics).
- 2. Sourcing, Negotiation & Contract Management

Lead negotiations for Cluster North and support global negotiations with strategic suppliers.

Design and execute the regional tendering strategy.

Negotiate and implement Long-Term Agreements (LTAs) following Campari's standard LTA, ensure harmonized PAF structures and volume flexibility.

Manage the full contract lifecycle: drafting, compliance monitoring, volume commitment tracking, PAF calculation review, and renewal planning.

Identify and implement working capital optimization opportunities.
- 3. Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) & Performance

Lead the SRM animation framework for Cluster North strategic suppliers and actively support different forums in place.

Monitor and report supplier KPIs across the four pillars: Availability, Profitability, Sustainability (, and Operational Excellence.

Lead supplier performance improvement plans.
-
Coordinate supplier capability development programs to support NPD, value engineering, and technical innovation projects.
- 4. Productivity, Value Engineering & NPD
-
Lead Value Engineering (VE) initiatives in partnership with the SC Cross-Functional Forum, granting short and long term targets delivery.

Manage the full NPD project pipeline for Cluster North: coordinate including influencing over glass bottles design, supplier selection, tooling lifecycle, and on-time sample/production readiness.
-
Work with Marketing, Quality and R&D on packaging renovation projects, ensuring E2E procurement alignment.
-
Track and improve forecast accuracy across cluster markets, reducing contractual penalties and improving negotiation leverage.
- 5. Business Continuity Planning (BCP)
-
Lead BCP program for Cluster North: validate backup plants and new suppliers for top gross-profit SKUs in the USA, Canada, and Jamaica.

Execute the key initiatives of strategy within the geographical scope.

Assess supply risks across 5 pillars: Strategic, Supply, Compliance, Financial, and Sustainability risk – prioritizing BCP actions by gross profit exposure.

Monitor global supply/demand balance, M&A activity, and supplier financial health to anticipate availability and pricing disruptions.
- 6. Sustainability & Innovation

Develop and track joint CO2 reduction programs aligned to Campari's Scope 3 targets

Drive the four glass sustainability levers: lightweighting, increased cullet usage, energy optimization (furnace upgrades), and adoption of renewable energy.

Integrate sustainability criteria into tendering evaluation: CO2 per bottle, cullet %, furnace energy source, ESG maturity score.
-
Ensure full ESG compliance across the supply base (Supplier Code of Conduct, social assessment, sustainability commitment in LTAs).
- 7. SPOC Articulation & Local Stakeholder Management
-
Act as the Glass Category primary interface for SPOCS and Supply Chain teams in USA, Canada, and Jamaica – translating global glass strategy into locally executable action plans.

Provide guidance, category tools, and market intelligence to local Procurement SPOCs, enabling effective day-to-day procurement management at the country level.

Represent Glass Category in regional Supply Chain forums and cross-functional meetings, aligning local stakeholders (BU, SC, Finance, Plant Managers) with regional strategy.

Support with SPOCs in managing quality claims, supplier escalations, service issues, and administrative procurement processes when needed.

Act as budget co-owner for glass spend in Cluster North.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
-
Minimum 7 years of procurement experience, with proven track record in direct materials and/or packaging categories.

Experience in technically complex categories such as glass, rigid packaging, industrial materials, or primary packaging.

Demonstrated success in multi-country, multi-supplier sourcing strategies within matrix, multinational organizations.
-
Strong negotiation and LTA management experience, including PAF mechanisms, index-based pricing, and contract lifecycle management.

Hands-on experience leading cross-functional projects (VE, NPD, BCP) in collaboration with Quality, R&D, Supply Chain and Finance.

Experience in the beverage, spirits, FMCG or consumer goods sector preferred.

Exposure to sustainability procurement, ESG supplier evaluation, and CO2 footprint tracking is a plus.
EDUCATION / PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.

MBA or postgraduate qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain or Operations is a plus.

CIPS, CPSM or equivalent professional procurement certification is advantageous.
