How do you add value to the role?
The Control Engineer develops and commissions electrical and automatic control systems for industrial machinery, based on customer specifications and in accordance with engineering principles, international standards, and regulations.
This role implements complex algorithms for the design and development of control programs, identification systems, and/or signal processing systems.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science.
- Language: Advanced English.
- Preferred certifications: Numerical Control, Siemens/FANUC platforms, Siemens Sinumerik.
Experience
- 2 - 3 years of experience in CNC applications within the manufacturing industry.
- 3 years integrating automation and control aplications at the industry.
- PLC programming and HMI Development. Medium to advanced level.
Responsibilities
- Performs specialized technical services for internal and external clients, either locally, remotely, or on-site. The objective is to ensure that the assigned control systems operate efficiently and in accordance with industry and quality standards. The context, duration, and scope of activities will vary depending on each assignment.
- When designing industrial control systems, considers industry standards and focuses on meeting the client’s minimum specifications. Performs technical calculations and selects components; develops electrical schematics for control panels and peripherals; creates layouts and wiring schedules for panels and field devices; and prepares the bill of materials and list of included components.
- When designing industrial control architectures, selects the appropriate communication protocols and equipment, as well as the suitable languages to code, program, or configure the equipment.
- Develops and validates code for programmable controllers, configures vision systems, and develops human-machine interface applications. Configures communication and control equipment.
- Identifies failure modes and implements preventive and corrective actions integrated into the design of electrical and control systems. Performs risk and safety assessments. Validates, commissions, and tests the equipment and systems that are part of the assigned scope.
- When participating in projects with internal clients, is involved in quality assurance; collaborates with manufacturing personnel to solve problems, identify future opportunities, or develop new solutions. Generates and manages the appropriate documentation throughout the design, development, and validation process, in compliance with the company’s internal standards. Contributes to the continuous improvement of internal processes, generates evidence, proposes new processes, and ensures the quality of the final product.
- Participates in the ideation, conceptualization, cost estimation, and definition of the company’s business offering when it requires their area of expertise.
- Develops and updates technical competencies, either through self-learning or through the training programs made available by the company. Participates in training and consulting programs for internal and external clients, either as a content developer, technical instructor, or consultant.
