Job Brief
We’re looking for a part-time SSI open water scuba instructor to teach open water through stress and rescue courses. Those who are not already SSI, but have credentials from another agency, we will consider crossing over the right candidates at no cost.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following are the essential duties and responsibilities of the Job. Other duties may be assigned. Performance Appraisal (PA) measurements are noted in brackets [___].
1. Create, prepare, and execute open water, advanced, and stress and rescue courses as assigned. [PA: Teach scuba courses consistent with Company standards.] 2. Complete all required paperwork for new students. [PA: Paperwork completed accurately.] 3. Manage the logistics of your assigned courses. Ensure all required equipment is available, clean, serviceable, and fit for purpose before, during, and after courses. Ensure tanks are ordered and available, then returned. Communicate with and ensure students are informed of times and locations, and where required, that students have transportation to and from dives. Pay site use bills where required, and complete associated paperwork. [PA: Course logistics properly managed.] 4. Maintain, clean, and prepare all work spaces for students. [PA: Course logistics properly managed.]
5. Assist sales, marketing, and advertising teams with events, promotions, and campaigns. [PA: Assist with campaigns and promotions.] 6. Attend and participate in all Company sponsored training programs as required. [PA: Satisfactory participation, retention and application of training program subjects.] 7. Perform any other duties, responsibilities or tasks as assigned. [PA: Efficient completion of assigned duty, responsibility or task.] Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. You must already be a Scuba instructor. We prefer SSI (you will need to transfer to our center), but if you are PADI, NAUI, or hold a credible certification from another agency, we will consider crossing you over to SSI at our expense.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) at a minimum; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. An undergraduate degree in marine biology is highly preferred.
Language Skills
Both English and Spanish are required. Would be helpful if you speak other languages such as German, French, or Russian. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or Associates of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Qualifications
Specialty instructor certifications are not required, but favored. You must have a current medical, and where required by law, professional liability insurance. You must have DAN insurance.

While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

This position is paid based on performance; if you’re good at sales (or you want to learn how to become good at sales), you’ll easily create value for you, customers, and the organization. Therefore, we pay a a generous commission for the sales for courses and products.
