      Entrevista

      The Hanover Insurance Group's hiring and interview process is very good. It starts with the initial HR follow up phone call after you apply online. Preliminary questions answered at that point. Following the initial HR interview comes a scheduled phone interview by HR in which they go into great detail about your prior experience and the relation to the job applied for. If that progressives and they see that you are a good fit, then its up to HR to forward the information on to the department managers/direct report manager. From there HR who is always the point of contact and always very accessible via phone/email will set up your face to face interview. If you make it past this interview you will typically have a second interview with the more senior manager of which may take place in person or via phone. If you make it pass this point it goes back into the hands of the hiring manager and whether or not they make an offer, if they do they will contact you and then contact HR to give you the formal offer details. At this point HR will go over the offer details and whether and ask if you tentatively accept them. If you give the nod they will send you a formal offer letter and preliminary welcome packet full of company information and benefits information. Once you return that they will begin the background check of which is very detailed. The Hanover's process in the background check isnt a one and done ideal, meaning that if something strange pops up you are not automatically disqualified. HR will actually call you and review it, send it to you via mail and if they need clarification they will allow you to rectify anything or explain in details or provide supporting documentation in order to assist them in justifying manually approving your background. From my experience most companies use third party background checks and its either pass or fail with no explanation or reasoning except for a letter from the third party company and typically a rescinded offer. Hanover looks at every person an individual and understands that people can have tough breaks and/or bad things happen in their lives, thus not allowing these human qualities or misfortunes to disqualify a qualified and valuable applicant from being a part of the organization.

      Three rounds of interviews: HR screening call, "technical" interview, and final round with head of department. All were pretty short and not challenging, each person I met with I only talked to for a max of 30 minutes so I felt it wasn't the best process to get to know me well. Questions were repeated and time was wasted by re-explaining the position to me, but interviewers were nice and had good things to say about the company. No response or rejection sent to me after my final interview round over 2 months ago even after a follow up email, which soured my initially positive impression of the company.
