Reached the virtual pair programming stage which consisted of 4 (probs classified as) easy leetcode style questions. 60 mins. The interview was on a platform called CoderByte. The interviewers seemed nice and off we go. The platform had a severe lag, where maybe each individual character would take one or two seconds to process. You would type with no visual feedback and then the editor would suddenly display a bunch of letters at once after that significant lag. This led to loads of typos which were equally time consuming to correct. Code indentation was out if the window. The typing of the code took without exaggeration about 5 times more than normal. I raised the performance of the tool with the interviewers and they sort of responded: “yeah, it’s kind of hit and miss”. Right, so candidates sometimes get a fair process and sometimes they don’t. I expected there to be some sort of time adjustment at the end due to this but there was NONE. With the third problem I absolutely rushed to implementation given how little time there was left. I absolutely feel robbed of a fair process. This interview was absolutely doable and I wasn’t actually given the chance to see it through . Don’t think I ever felt more wronged after an interview before.
