      Entrevista

      I received a phone call from Shell within 2 weeks of applying inquiring about my level of Spanish when I applied for the English-speaking role. After getting my first interview to get to know me better, I was faced with delays for my final assessment due to an error on their side as they had mixed up the location for where I had applied. After resolving this issue, I attended my final assessment which began with the interviewer speaking in Spanish. Respecting the nature of the role, I asked if the interview could be conducted in English instead. As the interview progressed, I was starting to feel disrespected by the interviewer as he took on a passive-aggressive tone mentioning that he wished I had better Spanish skills and did not have a background in Finance. I responded to this by mentioning that if Spanish was required, I am more than willing to improve it and even learn an additional language as the role required me to relocate. Additionally, I was more than willing to make up for my lack of hard skills by my enthusiasm to learn and to work hard. In the end, I was not given any feedback as to why I was rejected and simply received an automated and impersonal rejection letter without any option to ask for feedback and justification.
