      Entrevista

Applied online for several of the Windows System Administrator positions. Have a contact on the inside that forwarded my resume to one of the hiring managers. Hiring manager emailed me and asked to speak with me by phone. Had a 30 minute conversation with him, gave some overal Rackspace information/shift options - more of a 'get to know you' kind of phone call. He then sent my information on the Recruiter. Heard from the Recruiter the next day. Had a phone screen with her lasting about 30/45 minutes which involved a technical screen consisting of about 20 questions. Answers to most questions were given at the time, had a good feel of how I did technically at the time of the call. Recruiter said she would set up a more technical phone screen with a team Lead. Call was scheduled for 1 hour, only took about 30 or so minutes. During all phone calls, I was asked what I knew about Rackspace, why I wanted to work for them, etc. The phone screen with the Lead had more difficult and more in depth questions. He said he had to pass the information back on to the Recruiter and I should hear something shortly. Recruiter called back the following day and said she was going to set me up with a face to face interview. Meeting was scheduled for 1.5 hours (2-45 minute sessions), more technical/team fit interviews. Met with Manager I spoke with initially along with another Manager. How would you handle/customer interactions/angry customer questions..... The following day, the Recruiter called back and stated she wanted me to meet with some team Leads from the 3rd shift (I applied for several positions, one of which was a 3rd shift). Met with two Leads at 11pm at night for about an hour. This meeting was more of a get to know you, how will you work with our team kind of thing.....comfortable, and easy. Talked about how I'm prepared to handle 3rd shift work. A lot of emphasis on working 3rd shift evironments. Overall, the process was pretty in depth and you can surely get a feel of what Rackspace culture is! They for sure want to make sure everyone can work together as a TEAM. Do your research about the company and their culture. Read up on their blog, facebook, anywhere you can get information about the company. This will help. Received an offer from the Recruiter 2 days after the 11pm interview. Will start 60 days after offer was made.

I wasnt really thrown off by anything they asked. The "hardest" question I was asked was how to deal with an irate customer...which was easy to answer.

Contacted via LinkedIn. Arranged for 1 hour telephone interview. Interview took exactly 1 hour not more or less for me. Questions are general and basic knowledge test, which included DNS, IIS Server, Ports, SQL Server, and some basic Windows Server performance monitoring and troubleshooting methods and tools.

There were 4 stages to mine. Video recording, very small phone screen by recruiter, Technical, and Managerial/Culture. Each seemed fair and I understood the need for each. It is good to have these broken up as a single interview with an entire team can be troublesome as you race against the clock and try to fit everything in to a 1-2 hour time frame. Each section deserves its own time slot. The recruiter didn't leave huge gaps in between each phase so I stayed engaged with the process. She was also fine with me reaching out if I had any questions. What is also helpful is checking the status of your application in the online job portal during the beginning of the process. In the end, I got the offer. I was able to negotiate what I would be comfortable with without being greedy. The benefits are nothing short of excellent either. Thank you to all of the staff that I worked with during this!

Honestly, there were a TON of questions. Personally, I don't want to give away anything. If you are a true Windows Admin and are confident in your skills, you should do fine. I will say this though, BE HONEST. If you don't know something, just say it. Do not try to BS your way through questions. They appreciate honesty and no one wants a know-it-all. Read other people's experience with interviews if it helps. Remember, they want to get to know YOU.

I applied online. 2 days after applying, I got an email for a virtual interview via HireVue. 13 questions. All timed questions. Mix and match video answers, short answer, and multiple choice. Once you finish, the interview gets submitted to the recruiter. It says to allow 7 business days for review. I got a call from the recruiter about 3 weeks later to setup a 1hr face face interview with 2 team leads and a 1hr technical interview 2 team members. Team lead interview was a personality interview. Technical interview had questions about DNS, RAID, AD, SQL, Windows commands, and Server. No clustering questions (this is important). For the technical interview, I recommend to use the white board. They seemed to like that. A week after my interview, the recruiter called me and said that they decided not to move forward with me because I lacked SQL, Clustering, and AD experience. It was odd that the recruiter said I lack clsutering experience because the technical interview did not include ANY clustering questions. Not sure how they determined that. Be careful with the techincal questions. They like to ask ALOT of follow up questions.
