was hired through a recruiter. the recruiter told me about the skills test beforehand but it was fairly easy test anyway. tested on web design, JQuery, and Microsoft SQL. also was asked if I knew insurance and insurancer terminology since the product serves the insurance industry.

I had an issue with joins as they use MS SQL and I was used to using Postgress but they allowed me to lookup the answer which made it less stressful.

I was set-up for an interview through a tech recruiter, When I got in, I sat in the conference room with the CEO and he showed me through the process a little bit, how the development workflow is, showed me around the office, and displayed the facilities. The interview questions were not difficult (it was entry level) and he gave you a chance to look things up if needed on the web. They basically just wanted to see how you solved a problem even if you didn't know the question directly.

They displayed a bit of jQuery code (a function from the document ready line). you were asked to debug the existing code and then add to it a little bit, using some jQuery functions. ( I cannot remember the exact question at this time)

The HTML and CSS skills test was fairly simple as all I was asked to do was create a web page from scratch and use CSS to apply simple formatting. I think the HTML and CSS test could have been more challenging as it was quite easy. JQuery was more difficult and required me to lookup references on the Internet which I was allowed to do. SQL test was easy to pass. If you know MS SQL and the difference between various joins and unions, and can write selects, updates, and inserts you will have no problems.
