Google is firmly aimed at acquiring exceptional talent and absorbing them in to their society. What may seem like perks are actually clever ways to keep employees working longer hours. The people are intelligent, a very good place to be for a mature developer, but not a place younger, immature personalities will blend in with. Professionalism is of the highest order and that is refreshing in the slacker mentality of the smaller (<100 employee) shops.
