I had a nice interaction with the two directors at CFPB. CFPB is a relatively new agency established by the current President to oversee the consumer market. There were 2 1:1 interviews, one fit and one case. The case was not very hard, but candidates must be organized to solve the case. Candidates must really be interested to work for a government agency and really know what CFPB does in order to be moved forward in the recruitment process.

These are all structured and they have a set of questions they ask every candidate. There is time to ask questions at the end of the interview. They are encouraged not to deviate from the structured interview.

Structured interview for about an hour. Very basic questions, tell me about your experience, why did you apply, etc. There was a panel of interviewers of varying degrees of attentiveness.

Structured interview with very formulaic questions. Hard to tell if there was a leading candidate, the questions did not give a sense of the actual job. Not a lot of time at the end to discuss my questions about the job.
