I received a call from the lead admin for a phone interview. During our chat, she advised the position started with $13/hour and asked if this was acceptable. I told her no and that I wasn't in a position to accept anything paying less than $18/hour plus bonuses. She changed her story and said that they have "some" positions that pay $18/hour plus bonuses. I agreed to come in and interview for those positions only. I had a 10a appointment. I arrived 15 minutes early and sat in the lobby until 10:20a. I took an assessement and was seated back in the lobby at 10:47a to wait to interview with the hiring manager. The hiring manager came and got me from the lobby at 11:37a. His first "interview" question was about the pay and I told him the exact same thing that I told the other lady the day before. He responded, "Well, that's what the position pays and we don't have any positions that pay $18/hour plus bonus." I thanked him for his time and left.
I do not appreciate being deceived or having my time wasted. There was no reason why it should have taken the manager almost an hour to come out and say that. It was almost like he thought sitting in the lobby for a while would have made me change my mind about the pay that I'm worth.
