    Ventajas

    The people are mostly really great. The company cares about its community and its employees and provides many little perks that make some of the other headaches more bearable, like free snacks in the break room, frequent "themed" days, and birthday celebrations for every employee. The atmosphere is very family-like, and working from home on occasion is an option, so there is some flexibility when life happens. The Ops Manager is one of the most upbeat, positive people I have ever met and she has made many positive changes in processes and the measurement of metrics and accountability over the last year.

    Desventajas

    Leadership is mostly well-intentioned, but is a bit disconnected from the day-to-day. The technology our customers have to use is outdated, not user-friendly in the least, and constantly glitches and/or breaks down entirely. IT is an integral part of the company but seems directionless (at best) at times. Too much knowledge is often concentrated with one person, leaving gaps in the provision of service when that person is unavailable. Negative feedback is given liberally but positive feedback is scarce (though there have been improvements here in the last several months). Training for new hires is virtually non-existent, leaving the service customers receive sometimes spotty and inconsistent. The communication of changes (which are constant in this industry) could be better. In an industry as highly regulated as ours (background screening), there should be a higher emphasis on training, not just in the company's systems and processes, but in the basics of screening and the laws that govern it.

    Use the intelligent, savvy people you already have to a better advantage. Find ways to promote from within to grow these employees, rather than leaving them with no options but to update their resumes.
